How often and where do you run?
I run five or six days a week, both on roads and trails (I can never decide which I like better! It depends on my mood). I live in Golden, Colorado, where there are so many beautiful trails and roads to run on. My favorite places to run are South Table Mountain and White Ranch Park.
What first got you into running?
I joined the track team when I was in the sixth grade and became obsessed. I took a short running break in high school because I hated racing, but rekindled my love of the sport my freshman year of college and never looked back.
Why do you keep running now?
Running makes me feel powerful and improves my confidence. I love that it gives me an excuse to play outside every day and go on adventures.
Do you run with others or solo?
Both! Running solo is a great way to center myself, but I also love a good hour-long running gossip session with pals.
Any rituals, gear, or quirks?
I never leave the house without fun sunglasses, especially in sunny Colorado!
Is there a specific run or running moment that stands out to you?
I ran a marathon in my hometown this spring and everything went perfectly and according to plan. I felt great, met all of my goals, and got to celebrate with my family and friends after — it was hands down my favorite race yet!
How does running fit into the rest of your life?
Running is my whole life at the moment. My partner and I both work in the running industry, my primary hobby is running, most of my friends are runners… I have to make a conscious effort to spend time on other hobbies! I feel so lucky to live a life in which I can prioritize what I love.
What runner would you love to hear answer this series next?
Mat Hemming!
