One of the best things about Like the Wind is the way that it creates so many wonderful – and often unexpected – connections.
A couple of weeks ago we were contacted by the new General Manager at Foyles Bookshop in central London, who it turns out is a committed runner and a fan of Like the Wind, to ask whether we would be happy to supply them with magazines to sell.
For those of you who don’t know, Foyles is a London institution. The business started in 1903, when teenage brothers William and Gilbert Foyle failed their civil service exams and placed an advertisement to sell their text books. The levels of interest were enough to convince them to buy and sell more books and within a few years they opened the largest educational bookshop in the London in Charing Cross Road in the city’s West End.
Last year Foyles moved to a new site on Charing Cross Road and opened a wonderful, bright, easily-navigated and inviting shop housing 200,000 different titles.
We have always enjoyed visiting Foyles and it is a massive thrill to be stocked there alongside many of the magazines that we love and admire, a fantastic sports book section brimming with fantastic titles and a heartfelt welcome. If you are in London, be sure to pop-in and pick up a copy or treat yourself to another great running-title.
