To celebrate the launch of the Metropolitan Times, a collaboration with Tracksmith, we have two items for charity auction (see details below). Simply bid on an item, pay an amount of your choice and we’ll pick two winners. All the donations will go to running charities.

  • Girls on the Run empowers young girls through a combination of running and interactive lessons that build confidence, social skills, and healthy habits. Their programs aim to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident while fostering positive emotional, social, and physical development.
  • The Running Charity is a London-based nonprofit that empowers young people aged 16–25 who are experiencing homelessness or complex needs by combining running with tailored youth work and wellbeing support. Through structured fitness programs and personal development coaching, the charity helps participants build confidence, resilience, and a sense of community to support long-term positive change.
  • You can bid any amount (min $5/£5/€5 – be generous as this fully goes to support a running charity) and the winner for each will be chosen randomly.
  • Place your bids via this Paypal link and fill in this Google form.
  • Winners will be selected and contacted after the London marathon.

Item 1: Collector issue #1 of Like the Wind magazine.

The one that started it all, in 2014. Long sold-out, often requested, never available… until now, and just for this one single copy (pre-loved, comes with a couple of scratches). By 2025, Like the Wind has published 44 issues, celebrated its 10th anniversary, launched its first women’s edition and expanded to Japan. While much has evolved, the mission remains the same: to share thoughtful, long-form stories that explore the “why” behind running, for a worldwide audience. Bid here, and enter your details here.

Item 2: Signed copy of Running with the Kenyans by Adharanand Finn

Complete with a personal note by author Adharanand Finn. Bid here, and enter your details here.

Running with the Kenyans is a memoir and investigative journey by journalist and amateur runner Adharanand Finn. Driven by a deep fascination with why Kenyan runners dominate long-distance running, Finn moves with his family to Iten, a small town in Kenya renowned for producing world-class athletes. Finn immerses himself in the Kenyan running culture, training alongside elite and amateur runners, and learning about their lifestyle, diet, and mindset. He explores several key elements behind Kenya’s running success, such as altitude, lifestyle, community and motivation.

Through his training and cultural observations, Finn not only gains insight into the Kenyan approach to running but also rediscovers his own love for the sport. The book is both a personal journey of growth and an exploration of the deeper roots of athletic excellence. An essential read for any runner.
