Now recruiting:

  • Commercial Manager North America
  • Commercial Manager EMEA
  • Fulfilment Agent North America

As you may know, Like the Wind is a labour of love. Started by husband & wife team Julie & Simon Freeman, the magazine is propelled forward by volunteers who see the same potential in its transformative power as the co-founders did in February 2014. The vision was always to go beyond the magazine into the community with events and products. With limited edition prints, t-shirts and accessories, sold-out film nights, Street Art Running Tours in London and an incredible week of events at our London Pop-Up in 2015, we’re keen to keep the momentum going and do much, much more.

However, the magazine needs more hands and fresh energy to get to the next step. With the original team stretched to its limits with demanding day jobs, we are looking for committed, entrepreneurial individuals to become part of the team. To begin with there is no fixed salary available. However remuneration will be linked to performance and incremental sales. There is true potential for the right individual to develop an income within 6 months with share options in Like the Wind and the potential to become full-time Managing Director / Publisher in time. If you think you fit the bill, please apply by filling the relevant form below by 30th April 2017.

Commercial Manager North America
Commercial Manager EMEA

We’re keen to grow the readership of the magazine and are looking for two Commercial Agents to help us develop the North American and EMEA customer and advertiser base through strategic partnerships, events, online advertising, social media, stockists, brand ambassadors etc. You will propose your own commercial development plan for 12 months which will aim to develop direct sales, readership, subscriber base, stockists and advertisers in your territory. You may run your own events and use the Like the Wind brand in strategic partnerships.

The role would be suited to someone with an established network within the running world (both runners and running brands / stockists) and an outgoing personality. You must be entrepreneurial and open to risk, ideally with successful ventures to prove it, either in publishing, e-commerce, the arts, events – or any business in the running/outdoors sector. You must have a proven track record in turning tiny budgets into great events and online advertising/events into sales. This position doesn’t come with an assistant – as such it is 20% strategy and 80% execution.

The job is part-time but with a minimum duration of 12 months. It can be combined with the role of Fulfilment Agent for the USA/Canada (see below). Initially remuneration is commission-only plus expenses and share options. Commission will be paid on advertising, events and magazine sales. With uncapped commission, there is serious earnings potential for the right candidate.

Fulfilment Agent North America

With limited resources in the UK plus a slow and expensive postal service, we’re looking for someone to fulfil orders in the USA and Canada on our behalf. You will receive the magazines in bulk and will fulfil orders, starting with a large batch on a quarterly basis, and smaller orders on a bi-weekly basis throughout the year. You will also look after customer enquiries for North America and manage returns and refunds. This position is a part-time job – fulfilment currently only takes a few hours a month – but you will need to commit to a minimum of 12 months. It would work very well for a stay-at-home mum/dad, work-from-home freelancer/writer/pensioner, semi-pro athlete or someone with a part-time role looking for incremental income. The role could be combined with the role of Commercial Agent (see above) for the right candidate, or team of candidates – a husband/wife team might fit the bill nicely 🙂

It would be particularly suited to someone who is organised, meticulous and fluent in Microsoft Office (incl. mail merge) and ideally with some e-commerce or online shop experience (eg Etsy/Shopify or Amazon/Ebay seller). You will need dry storage space to stock the magazine and the packing supplies, and a car to drive to the post office. You must be based in the USA (or potentially Canada).

You will be provided with stock and supplies, and postage costs will be paid in advance. You will be paid a nominal packing fee for each magazine shipped, plus a commission on incremental sales linked to your independent development efforts as a sales affiliate.
