Typesetter / Junior Graphic Designer

Typesetter / Junior Graphic Designer

Attention creative runners: we’re looking for a Junior Graphic Designer to support the making of our running print publication Like the Wind magazine and its collateral visuals. You’ll be the connector between our raw text and visual content and its final printed and digital form. You’ll also work on our marketing collateral (social media visuals, product mockups, event visuals) and potentially create merchandising.

Position: part-time, remote, freelance basis – 10-12 hours/week (flexible availability required to meet shifting deadlines)

Job description

The role reports into the creative director and primarily covers the layout of our quarterly print publications: Like the Wind global edition, Like the Wind USA, as well as foreign language editions (French/German coming in 2026). Every quarter, you’ll start with an empty template that you’ll turn into a ready-to-print pdf, and ready-to-read online articles.

Below description covers our immediate needs for our current projects and team members, but has scope for extension. As a part-time role, responsibilities will be prioritised and not everything below will happen every week or straight away.

  • Visual research: be always on the look-out for visual-first stories from running photographers and illustrators; grow our database of visual contributors; email communication with our visual contributors;
  • Create marketing collateral: from the magazine content, create mockups, social media assets,
  • Merchandise design: research and propose visual concepts, and/or coordinate with visual contributors; create design files and product mockups;
  • Occasional, ad-hoc work may include (depending on skills and appetite):
    • Website design
    • Events collateral designs

Personal development

The role has a high potential for growth for the curious and entrepreneurial candidate. You will be able to get more involved in the creative processes and art direction as you grow into the role.

About you

  • Running is your lifestyle: you breathe it, you consume its culture in many forms;
  • You bring 2+ years of experience as a junior graphic designer, ideally with some experience in print (not essential);
  • You are a super-user of Adobe InDesign, and fluent in Illustrator and Photoshop;
  • You are extremely detail-oriented and meticulous;
  • English is your first language and you have impeccable spelling and grammar;
  • You are flexible with your working hours to meet our shifting deadlines;
  • You are based in Europe or North America;
  • Nice to have:
    • Branding experience;
    • Product design experience;
    • Photo grading experience;
    • Experience with motion graphics and video editing;

Benefits

Rates depending on experience: full-time equivalent of £24,000-£36,000 / $30,000-$45,000 / €28,000-€43,000 per year.

We offer flexibility in working hours and will agree together on your preferred days/time according to your personal situation. We provide an allowance for online courses and other training initiatives. We try to meet once a year as a team (usually at UTMB Chamonix). We have merch!

This role is initially offered on a part-time, freelance basis. You will be responsible for setting-up and declaring your income in line with your country’s rules and regulations. You will keep a timesheet and invoice us at the end of each calendar month. We will pay you within 2 working days.

How to apply

Please fill in this form by Friday, February 15th. But don’t delay, as we will start organising interviews as soon as we receive the first responses. Please note that:

  • we will attempt to respond to everyone but cannot make guarantees.
  • we will not respond to follow-up questions or requests for feedback on your application. The reason we’re recruiting is that we don’t have a lot of time in the first place…
